Blair Visited Libya Six Times To Lobby For JP Morgan

Documents found by The Sunday Telegraph published this weekend showed Mr Blair had made at least three visits to Tripoli, twice in the lead-up to the release of the alleged Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Megrahi in 2008 and 2009 and once last year. On the first two occasions he was flown to the country on planes arranged by Col Gaddafi.
A senior diplomat told The Daily Telegraph last night that the British embassy in Tripoli had arranged transport for Mr Blair and his entourage in Tripoli and ensured that representatives were there to “greet him and see him off” at the airport.
Mr Blair stayed overnight at the ambassador’s official residence in Tripoli and was accompanied by “several” British police officers for protection.

Friday's protests, organized under the wonderfully tongue-in-cheek name "elbow-licking Friday" (in reference to a speech made by dictator Omar al-Bashir, who suggested that efforts to topple his regime were as hopeless as attempting to lick one's elbow), marked the culmination of the past week's protests across the country, which were triggered by recent price hikes that came on top of years of repression of civil liberties. The protests are continuing, and the revolt will probably only grow with time.
Yet the international media has largely ignored them, save for the occasional news segment orarticle that managed to get to the front page. In any case, Sudan has received nowhere near the coverage that Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, or Syria received.
And it is imperative that we ask why this is the case.

Senior Army Officer Slams Cuts

The number of serving soldiers in the RRF is set to be cut from 1,100 to 600 personnel, the Daily Telegraph reported.
In the letter, Brig Paterson - the RRF's honorary colonel - questions the criteria being used to single out the unit, which has a strong record in recruiting new soldiers and is the only regiment set to grow in numbers in the next six months.
“I... have a strong conviction that... in creating a single battalion fusilier regiment, we are not best serving defence, the Army... or the Regiment”
Previously the defence secretary warned that regiments with poor recruitment records would be the most vulnerable.

'Mombassa is apparently under the threat or possibility of an imminent attack by 'terrorists'. The American Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya has issued an order for all American Government personnel to leave the port city of Mombassa by July 1.
Kenyan security forces and police have intercepted 'chemicals' they suspected of being for the production of bombs, the chemicals were in the possession of two Iranians, who were arrested, they said. Must be true then.
