We also have to include in this list a growing culture of manufactured indifference and cruelty, intensified through a commercially driven spectacle of violence that saturates every element of American society. From HERE.

America's Four Fundamentalisms
The rise of the national security state is no longer an abstraction and can also be seen in the collapse of the traditional distinction between the military and the police, as weapons move freely from the military to local police forces and contribute to the rise of pervasive police abuse against students, African-Americans and immigrants.

The pockets of our greatcoats full of barley...
No kitchens on the run, no striking camp...
We moved quick and sudden in our own country.
The priest lay behind ditches with the tramp.
A people hardly marching... on the hike...
We found new tactics happening each day:
We'd cut through reins and rider with the pike
And stampede cattle into infantry,
Then retreat through hedges where cavalry must be thrown.
Until... on Vinegar Hill... the final conclave.
Terraced thousands died, shaking scythes at cannon.
The hillside blushed, soaked in our broken wave.
They buried us without shroud or coffin
And in August... the barley grew up out of our grave.

16 Dead In Continuing Iraq Violence
The violence, which also left 24 people wounded, comes two days after suspected Al-Qaeda gunmen killed 27 policemen in a pre-dawn rampage in western Iraq, as officials insisted Baghdad was ready for the March 29 meeting, which UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is set to attend.
“There were two explosions today, the first carried out by a car bomb and another by a suicide attack, in front of a restaurant,” Athil al-Nujaifi, governor of Nineveh province of which Tal Afar is part, told AFP.

Mossad And Blackwater In Syria Along With CIA
The recent Stratfor leak and hacked email of the company’s director of analysis also suggest undercover NATO troops are already on the ground in Syria.
There have been previous allegations of a Western presence on the side of the rebels as 13 French officers were reportedly captured by the loyalist forces earlier in March.
President Bashar al-Assad has repeatedly claimed his regime is fighting not with peaceful protesters as claimed by the West, but with the military gangs supported by the West. LINK.

NATO In Syria Already
The author of the letter claims that US officials “said without saying that SOF [special operation forces] teams (presumably from the US, UK, France, Jordan and Turkey) are already on the ground, focused on recce [reconnaissance] missions and training opposition forces.” A little later the US army experts expand on the role of the undercover commandos: “the idea 'hypothetically' is to commit guerrilla attacks, assassination campaigns, try to break the back of the Alawite forces, elicit collapse from within.”
Alawites are a minority Islamic sect, to which Syrian President Bashar Assad and his support base belong. For the past year he has battled an insurrection that has united a range of opponents, from pro-democracy activists to radical Sunni Muslims.

America And Targeted Killings
According to a UN special report on the subject, targeted killings are premeditated acts of lethal force employed by states in times of peace or during armed conflict to eliminate specific individuals outside their custody. "Targeted killing" is not a term distinctly defined under international law, but gained currency in 2000 after Israel made public a policy of targeting alleged terrorists in the Palestinian territories. The particular act of lethal force, usually undertaken by a nation's intelligence or armed services, can vary widely--from car bombs to drone strikes to special operations raids. The primary thrust of U.S. targeted killings, particularly through drone strikes, has been on al-Qaeda and Taliban leadership networks in Afghanistan and the remote tribal regions of Pakistan. However, U.S. operations are continuing to expand in Horn of Africa countries such as Somalia and Yemen. More.
Bahrain Demonstrations - Recent Footage
Bahrain has disappeared from the radar in the UK. They are 'our' dictators after all. This foreign footage is from last week. A week in which John Yates, disgraced ex-Met Assistant Commissioner, gave cabled evidence to the Leveson Inquiry from Bahrain where he is 'advising' the police. They couldn't have picked a better spiv for the job. Plenty of champagne to be had over in the Kingdom.

Assad Fears Pictures With Blair May Emerge
A Syrian government spokesman said: "We realised, oh about ten, maybe twelve years ago now, that being friends with western leaders would lead, as night follows day, to some very noisy airstrikes, being dragged from a fetid hole in the ground and then, all of a sudden, being very, very dead. Ayn Rand And The New Right
READ MORE.Atlas Shrugged, published in 1957, depicts a United States crippled by government intervention in which heroic millionaires struggle against a nation of spongers. The millionaires, whom she portrays as Atlas holding the world aloft, withdraw their labour, with the result that the nation collapses. It is rescued, through unregulated greed and selfishness, by one of the heroic plutocrats, John Galt.
Israeli Defence Leadership 'Rotten To Core'
The report paints former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi as a subverter, who worked to torpedo Maj. Gen. Yoav Galant's appointment as his successor with the help of a dubious agent, reserve officer Boaz Harpaz. And it paints Defense Minister Ehud Barak as having failed to supervise the army, while allowing himself to be dragged into a fight between his bureau and associates and those of Ashkenazi.FROM HERE.

McCain Advocates Air-Strikes On Syria
The Obama administration has thus far stressed seeking a political solution to the crisis. Last month, the White House said it did not rule out "additional measures" if a political solution turned out to be impossible."The time has come for a new policy," said McCain, who lost the race for the White House to Democrat Barack Obama in 2008. "Assad needs to know that he will not win.""These safe havens could serve as platforms for the delivery of humanitarian and military assistance - including weapons and ammunition, body armor and other personal protective equipment, tactical intelligence, secure communications equipment, food and water and medical supplies," said McCain, the ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Fear Of Obama Re-election Driving US Gun Sales?
A prominent businessman recently shopped at Cheaper Than Dirt, saying that "Republicans don't have a prayer against Obama" this year. That man, Irwin said, spent $25,000 on ammunition, magazines and other gun paraphernalia.
"The folks paying attention to the political climate think this might be an opportunity to stock up," Irwin said.
John Woods, who has lobbied for legislation to keep guns off college campuses, said many fears surfacing are unwarranted.
"The gun lobby has long known that fear is a remarkable marketing and fundraising tool," said Woods, a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin who attended Virginia Tech and lost his girlfriend in the 2007 shooting there that claimed 33 lives. "But the Supreme Court ruled recently that the Second Amendment is an individual right, so that fear is completely misplaced."

Obama Grovels To AIPAC
There are few more demeaning sights than US politicos kow-towing to AIPAC and the Israeli lobby generally, mooching for crumbs of influence and funding. It's worse when it is the President. The poisonous influence of this group is illustrated here back in 2008. The worst I ever saw was of Dubya looking for a second term and name-checking every contributor to Republican funds at an AIPAC Meeting. I have looked for a clip and can't find one. But here is one of his successors, grovelling for all he is worth (and resembling nothing more than the GOP candidates):-
More Stability In Obamya's New Iraq
The gunmen entered the homes of a colonel in the interior ministry security force and a captain, kidnapping them both. The attackers claimed they had warrants for their arrests, Mohammed Fathi, a spokesman for the provincial governor, told AP.
The two commanders were later found shot dead in the street not far from their homes, Haditha police said.
Mr Fathi told AP the gunmen had false arrest warrants for 15 police officials in the city.
The gang, driving interior ministry vehicles and wearing uniforms of the ministry's special forces, then moved through the city in a convoy, which one local lieutenant said was 13 vehicles strong. Read More.

VP To Flee Iraq?
BAGHDAD - The Iraqi interior ministry on Sunday asked Kurdish authorities to arrest fugitive Sunni Vice President Tareq al-Hashemi saying he was planning to flee the country.
Hashemi, a member of the secular Sunni-backed Iraqiya bloc, has been accused by Baghdad of running a death squad. He fled to the autonomous Kurdistan region in December, but authorities there have so far declined to hand him over.
“The (Iraqi) interior ministry requested that the interior ministry of the Kurdistan regional government carry out the arrest warrant issued against him and hand him over to judicial authorities,” a statement said.
The ministry has reliable information that Hashemi intends “to flee from the (Kurdistan) region to outside Iraq,” it said.
The December accusations against the vice president came amid a wider row between Iraqiya and the Shiite-led government.
Iraqiya began a boycott of parliament and the cabinet in December to protest against what it charged was Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki’s centralisation of power, and called for Maliki to respect a power-sharing deal or quit.
But the bloc’s members have since returned to parliament and the cabinet, as the dispute between Iraqiya and the government has cooled off.

More Lunacy At The White House
Perpetrators on this occasion are droneheads from 'Iraqi Freedom'. Bizarro.
“It’s an honor to be there…to represent the thousands of airmen that have been in Iraqi freedom,” Jacobson told the Las Vegas Sun the morning after the dinner. “It was amazing to have that kind of up close and personal time. It’s not every day you go to a White House state dinner.”
Jacobson was seated during the dinner with members from the various branches of the service, as well as Dr. Jill Biden, whom he said was “a great advocate for the military and military families.” He met President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during a cocktail hour prior to the dinner.
The purpose of the affair was to congratulate, appreciate, and yes, toast the work of all the military that served in Iraq through a small group of their representatives. From here if you can stomach it.
Viva La Quinta Brigada
Around the time I saw the light of morning
A comradeship of heroes was laid
From every corner of the world came sailing
The Fifty International Brigade.
They came to stand beside the Spanish people
To try and stem the rising fascist tide
Franco's allies were the powerful and wealthy
Frank Ryan's men came from the other side.
Even the olives were bleeding
As the battle for Madrid it thundered on
Truth and love against the force of evil
Brotherhood against the fascist clan.
Viva la Quinta Brigada,
No Pasaran, the pledge that made them fight
Adelante was the cry around the hillside
Let us all remember them tonight.
Bob Hilliard was a Church of Ireland pastor
Form Killarney across the Pyrenees he came
From Derry came a brave young Christian Brother
And side by side they fought and died in Spain.
Tommy Woods age seventeen died in Cordoba
With Na Fianna he learned to hold his gun
From Dublin to the Villa del Rio
He fought and died beneath the Spanish sun.
Many Irishmen heard the call of Franco
Joined Hitler and Mussolini too
Propaganda from the pulpit and newspapers
Helped O'Duffy to enlist his crew.
The call came from Maynooth, "support the facists"
The men of cloth had failed yet again
When the Bishops blessed the Blueshirts in Dun Laoghaire
As they sailed beneath the swastika to Spain.
This song is a tribute to Frank Ryan, Kit Conway and Dinny Coady, Peter Daly, Charlie Regan Hugh Bonar,Danny Boyle, Blaser-Brown,Charlie Donnelly,Liam Tumilson,Jim Straney from the Falls, Jack Nalty, Tommy Patton, Frank Conroy,Jim Foley, Tony Fox and Dick O'Neill.
Irish Heroes of the International Brigade. Guerreros. Proudly rememebered. A tribute to the Scottish volunteers will follow soon. Tony.

L'Independence De L'Ecosse Prend Forme

Cameron, Rebekah Brooks And A Horse - Neigh Comment
In a television interview on Thursday night, Mr Cameron admitted for the first time that he had been riding with Mr Brooks, who is also a columnist on The Sunday Telegraph.
He told Channel 5 News's Political Editor Andy Bell in an interview: “It’s a matter of record that I have ridden horses with Rebekah Brooks’ husband in my constituency.”
The pair had been riding together once since May 2010, when Mr Cameron became Prime Minister, he said. However, the horse he rode since the election was not Raisa. He added: “Since becoming Prime Minister, I may have got on a horse once, but not that one.”
